Professional Experience

NASA Proposal Writing & Evaluation Experience Academy - NASA L'SPACE Program, Fall 2023

Role: Project Manager

  • Learned how to effectively write concept proposals based on innovative ideas

  • Gained experience in the evaluation process by reviewing and scoring proposals based on NASA’s reviewing standards

  • Acted as a secondary reviewer on a NASA new technology review board

NASA Lucy Mission Internship - Tempe, AZ, Summer 2023

Primary role: Project Manager

Secondary roles: Scientist, Mechanical Engineer

  • Gained 200+ hours of experience in the life cycle of scientific instrumentation

  • Worked in an interdisciplinary team to design, build, and test an infrared detector instrument that can withstand a simulated vacuum environment and take images of a thermal target

  • Managed team deliverables, such as preliminary design review, final design review, and end item data package, by delegating tasks for completion, communicating expectations and deadlines, and configuring required documents with pertinent information about the project

NASA Mission Concept Academy - NASA L'SPACE Program, Spring 2023

Role: Astrogeologist

  • Designed and wrote a Preliminary Design Review on a reconnaissance mission to the Northern Polar Layered Deposits of Mars with the goal of gaining more information on the climate history of Mars

  • Developed science requirements, mission success criteria, procurement plans, command and data handling requirements, and precision and accuracy standards that meet mission requirements

  • Found a suitable landing zone for the team’s rover using the JMARS software and worked with the engineering team on developing a CAD model of our instrument that can efficiently traverse the Martian surface

Field Experience

GeoSPACE Planetary Geology & Volcanology Field Program (UF) - Flagstaff, AZ, May-June 2023

  • Gained hands-on experience in geological field work through studying planetary analog sites in northern Arizona, such as Barringer Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater, and SP Crater

  • Developed geoscience project management skills through creating a research project on the reverse stratigraphy of Barringer Meteor Crater, which included research question development, project planning and execution, data processing and analysis, and presentation of results

  • Became proficient in using remote sensing software through research projects on the mineralogy of Vent-235 and comparing the similarities between volcanism on Earth and cryovolcanism in the Solar System
